There are a lot of must-see places in Camiguin as it is rich in both hot and cold springs, caves, craters, waterfalls and white sand beaches waiting to be explored. Since Camiguin is a volcanic island with four stratovolcanoes, it is expected that there are a couple of springs spread all over the island. Hot springs are located on the east side of Camiguin and in the west end of the island is where cold springs are. Forget your jeans, that baggy jacket, cotton shirts, and sneakers. When you’re in Camiguin, you can live with just your swimmers and flops. Whether you want to meet locals and learn their culture, meditate, do food trips, or simply laze around and relax by a picturesque beach, Camiguin Island has got you covered.
Howdy folks! We, Pinoys, are adventurous by nature. It’s always summer all year ’round for us. Our Camiguin Island escape was a hell of an adventure. It was one of the most hassle-free trips I’ve had because our itinerary was properly set prior to the trip and everything was placed in proper order as far as our tour and accommodation. If you’re coming from Cebu and thinking of going to Camiguin , this post could well be your ticket to help you decide which route is best for you and where to stay.
Cebu – Cagayan De Oro – Balingoan Port
We decided to be more adventurous, so we took the Cebu – CDO-Camiguin route going to our destination. We had the early morning flight to CDO. The trip was not bad, although it was not good either. I though Cebu Pac’s ATR TurboProp plane was a bit warm throughout the flight. But more importantly, we arrived safe and sound at Laguindingan International Airport so I really can’t complain.
Do you ever have moments when you start mindlessly checking social media posts during downtime and note down each place in your city which you have yet to visit and discover? One time, while I was slacking the day away, I went through the internet scouting for a place to explore. I came across Danasan Eco Adventure Park’s website and I became engrossed with everything they have to offer. I wanted something different for my visiting relatives (mom and brother), not just the usual sun, sand, and sea vibe. I wanted to be more in touch with nature with a bit of adventure, hence, Danasan Eco Park made it to the final cut.Read More »
Being a resident of Cebu City for almost 8 years, it’s surprising to some why my adventure to Camotes Island last September, 2016 was actually my first ever Camotes trip. Oh well, I can go on and on with the rationale behind it (and misfortunes in between) but, no, I’m not going to go that route. Since I’ve already set foot on the island, I’m not going to dwell on the whys anymore. Instead, let’s focus on the “how has it been”.
My first ever successful climb took place at Osmena Peak in Mantalongon, Dalaguete. Towering at approximately 1,000 meters above sea level, Osmena Peak is the highest mountain in Cebu province. With it’s a 360-degree view of nature, Osmena Peak is one of the most celebrated hiking spots in Cebu. It is always great to visit O-Peak (as it is fondly called by some) during the hot season, as the slopes get slippery during the rainy days. Veteran mountaineers who may have done it all but is looking for a fun climb can easily take the trip down south without any fuss. Get those trekking shoes, backpacks and tents ready and join me as I take you to my first ever trek to the breathtaking peaks of Mantalongon. (Yes, there are some groups camp in the premise to enjoy fresh mountain breeze and witness a fantastic view of the stars at night)
Dalaguete is a municipality located 87.7 kilometers south of Cebu. It is roughly 2 and a half hours bus ride from Cebu south bus terminal (an hour or so if you are driving your own vehicle). It is best known as the Vegetable Basket of Cebu. It is also considered as a “little Baguio” due to the spectacular scenery and cool mountain air. Mantalongon is the place where the famous peak is located. There’s a magical rush about this sleepy town, that is why whether you are a novice climber or a seasoned hiker who enjoys the exhilarating experience of conquering another mountain, Osmena Peak is a good choice. Our trip to Mantayupan Falls in Barili would not be complete without having to do a side trip to other worthy destination in the municipality of Barili, Cebu. Make your roadtrip adventure extra memorable by visiting Sayaw Beach and its caves, AC Tilapia Fun Fishing and Farm and Molave Milk Station.
All roads lead to somewhere when you are in Barili, so here are other places you might want to consider dropping by. Read More »
Feast your eyes to the vibrant interior of Be Resort as you step in their hotel lobby. It is a stylish boutique resort in Punta Engaño Rd, Lapu-Lapu City. You will be greeted with leading-edge furniture and fixtures and colorful pastel hues that will give you a familiar sense of home.
BE is smaller compared to its neighboring resort-hotels. I love that it’s small and charming because I’m a sucker for a zen-cozy vibe type of place. I feel close to home and that is what Be is definitely giving to their guests. The interior inside is visually tranquil and the rooms bring contemporary comfort to every vacationer. Room rate starts at P4, 888+/night (rates may vary per season/promotion). Read More »
White Island is a horseshoe-shaped sandbar about 20 minutes boat-ride away from Brgy Agoho (Brgy. Yumbing) in the northern shore of Mambajao. It is located 1.4 km (0.87 mi) off the volcanic island of Camiguin, Philippines.
A lighthouse is a venue that attracts guests and travelers who are seeking comfort and serenity overlooking vast clouds and wide sea view – always been a sight to behold. If you are looking for tranquil and relaxing ambiance that gives a nostalgic feel, then Porter Marina Yacht Club & Lighthouse is the answer. Porter Marina is a 2-storey architectural structure capped by a lighthouse. It is standing tall along a yacht club with fishing & grill house and a stunning view of the Magellan Bay. Plus, it is conveniently located within the heart of Liloan, Cebu. Last summer, my friends and I spent an entire day frolicking over fun and games, swimming and sight-seeing at the lighthouse.Read More »
