Do you know how it feels like to have a boulder in your stomach? I bet you do. That’s how it felt like for me after dining at Seafood And Ribs Warehouse. I had one of the best ‘paluto’ seafood feast and it’s damn hard to pick a favorite because all of the dishes served to us were really good. Their cooks made sure the ingredients we picked were cooked exactly as how we’d like it to be. I’ve got nothing but high praises to all the dishes served to us that night, not to mention that their prices are right on the budget so you can actually eat more without hurting your pockets. What I really enjoyed about dinning here is not only the food, but the entire dining experience. From the friendly staff, to food choices down to the ambiance, I recommend Seafood And Ribs Warehouse to every foodie out there. I bet our hardworking OFWs and tourists will appreciate every minute of their food fest. No doubt about that.Read More »
A Taste of Mandarin is originally built in 1993 right after Gaisano Country Mall was constructed from the family behind the Gaisano Capital Group. I’ve passed by and seen A Taste of Mandarin several times before but have never thought of trying it out. I always have hesitations to give it a go because of its stunning facade. From the outside, the place looks like it’s screaming “$$$” sign. Right at the entrance, an extensive Chinese Buddha will greet you, along with other decors that depict classic Shanghai vibe. Everything from the lights to the chairs up to the carpet is designed intricately that’s just fitting to the restaurant’s image.
It was my first time to experience a traditional Chinese banquet meal. A Chinese lauriat party is like a sit-down banquet usually done on special occasions. For those who have a deep-rooted love for Chinese food may very well understand what I am talking about. With the help of a lazy susan, the food was easily shared to us by simply rotating the glass tray at the center of the table. I immediately remember my childhood days when my grandparents also had a wooden version of a lazy susan on the table. There was so much to eat that one fine dinner time. The variation of each cuisine was melodious, it totally changed my initial perspective of Chinese food.
I’ve heard Chik Chow’s radio ad for some time already but I have yet to personally try it untlrecently. Finally, I got the opportunity to try their buffet which, by the way, is way affordable compared to the mainstream buffets in the metro.
My Uber driver was not familiar with the place, and so am I. We relied on our virtual map assistant, and boy was it tough. Chik Chow’s location is not that visible from the main road. But the good thing is they have a medium sized signage along the highway directing guests where to turn. I’ll make it easier for you, dear readers. Your marker will be the “mini bridge” beside San Carlos High School in Mango Ave. Across that ‘bridge’ is a small alley, that’s the road doing to Chik Chow. Do not hesitate to drive in because there is a big parking space allotted for Chik Chow customers inside.
Chik Chow offers lunch and dinner buffet for only P288.00 daily (except Mondays). They made use of the family’s ancestral house and converted it into the restaurant that it is today. The food business started practically from Chik’s (sir Bochik, owner) passion for cooking. Most of the food they serve are family recipes passed along for generations. Chik and his wife, Miss Viola, did some catering and offered short orders when they started. Eventually, the reputation blossomed and the rest is history. I immediately liked the ambiance because it’s like eating at the comforts of my home, without the box and busy restaurant feel.Read More »
If you’re in search of authentic Japanese food, then you must definitely try Tsuki’s delectable meals. At barely three months old, Tsuki Japanese Dining is currently on its soft opening. It is located on the ground floor of Sarrosa International Hotel. I’m such a sucker for Japanese food, so when I had the opportunity to try Tsuki, I was overjoyed! I can delightfully eat Japanese cuisine every day, any day.
Tsuki means “Moon” in English translation. A very fitting name to a Japanese food place as this celestial giant is ever-present in Japan’s rich culture, arts, and festivities. Tsuki Japanese Dining serves authentic Japanese food with genuine Japanese taste. The ambiance has a contemporary Japanese flair where people can get together for a drink of sake or shochu and just be merry.
The restaurant specializes in sushi and sashimi, no ramen in this joint guys. Head chef and part owner, Kazuo Sato, who hails from Osaka, is a decorated chef who has been cooking since he was 14 years old. His experiences from his travels abroad honed his skills in Japanese cooking onto the next level. You may also request for a special order if you wish to have something that’s not on their menu.
The dishes we had were so heavenly, I had a hard time forgiving myself for this gluttony trip haha! I will go through my top picks (personal favorites) first, but take note that everything in this blog post is pretty damn good.Read More »
I am no connoisseur but I enjoy slurping on a good ramen broth occasionally. Ramen has become a staple in the Philippine food scene. This stellar dish’s popularity is becoming a trend that a number of ramen houses are swarming in Cebu City’s food scene. Ramen Dojo first opened its doors to Cebuanos at Robinsons Cybergate back in June of 2016. When I heard that they are opening in IT Park, which is closer to where I live, I got really excited. Finally, on February 2017, Ramen Dojo opened its second branch at The Walk, Cebu IT Park.Read More »
The newest Shakey’s restaurant in Cebu finally opened its doors to the public at the 3rd biggest mall in the Philippines. With the recent opening of the SM Seaside City Cebu branch, it only means that Shakey’s SuperCard holders can enjoy more exclusive treats, promos, discounts and other privileges. The more reason why you have to get your own Shakey’s SuperCard right now.
Mr. Allen Tan, his family and some of Shakey’s top management spearheaded the event. Distinguished guests, SM Seaside Cebu officers, media personnel, and bloggers were invited to witness and partake in the opening. After the ribbon cutting, lunch was served. Our usual favorites like Mojos n’ Dip + Fried Chicken combo, pasta, and pizza were ever present. After lunch, there was a pizza-making activity for the children led by Captain Shakey’s himself.
As of this time, there are 190 Shakey’s stores nationwide. It will continue expanding to new locations so that more Filipinos can enjoy the Shakey’s experience. Congratulations to Shakey’s for the opening of your 8th baby in the Queen City of the South. Thai food has bcome a Filipino favorite. Here in Cebu, there are several Thai restaurants that are slowly making a mark in the food biz. One of which is this no non-sense Thai place named Soi Thai Restaurant. Soi Thai is a Filipino-owned restaurant from the creative minds that brought us the staple Kapampangan food chain, Cabalen. Soi means “street” or “side-street” in Thailand, so this place basically brings upscale Thai street food with lip-smacking dishes at a decent price. Madam Jocelyn Puyat, the owner, promised to bring Thailand’s culinary treasures to Cebu food scene with the most authentic taste possible through Soi Thai Restaurant.
Let’s go through some of Soi’s specials and my personal favorites from their menu.Read More »
Thai food has a reputation for excellence, the exotic flavors and fragrance make it one of the more popular international cuisines. Nothing beats the feeling of having Thai food in the streets of Thailand, whether it’s hot, sour, sweet or savory Thai food is always a good choice.
Wok’d Thai Take-Out make the most of everything to give us a taste of Thailand and displays an ambiance that stimulates three quintessential “S”es of the human senses: sight, sound (hearing), and scent (smell). Wok’d is a fast-paced restaurant which takes you to the heart of buzzing Bankok in a casual dining setting.Read More »
Cebu’s food industry has grown so much in the past years. A lot of Filipino-themed restaurants are opening in every corner, but there’s always one or two that stands out above the rest, right? Usually, these restaurants are the ones we frequent for get-togethers or special gatherings. Nothing beats eating good food together with the people we love. Good food is always associated with great moments with family and friends. What better way to do this than having our very own Filipino favorites served on our table together with the people we care about.
I can only count a few Pinoy restaurants in Cebu City that I consider my ‘go-to’ foodie place for Filipino dishes. One of which is this Cebuano-owned resto named KKD STK + BBQ located at the corner of MJ Cuenco Ave, near Plaza Independencia. I had the opportunity to meet and have a sit down with one of the owners, Clem, who was very accommodating to us. He’s a home-grown Cebuano businessman who understands what every Pinoys want in their food. KKD (for short) became a hit to the Cebu folks because the place has friendly servers, VERY GOOD food, and unintimidating facade. I became an instant fan the first time I came here. They have very delicious food choices, with a very Filipino taste. But the best thing about KKD is the affordability of their menu. The price of their dishes is much lower compared to others. Who would expect such tasty dishes coupled with pretty plating would be this reasonable? Where can you find an entre within the city that only costs P80.00! You definitely double your money’s worth.Read More »
