Gabii Sa Kabilin 2016, Cebu City Ph

On its 10th year salvo, Gabii SaKabilin 2016 focuses on forging people, ultimately led to the year’s theme “Forging Peoples” as well. Acting Mayor Margot Osmeña – author of Gabii Sa kabilin Ordinance 2327 – gave a warm welcome message and shared how Cebu captured her heart for 30 years now (and counting). An opening number in a form of a cultural dance was performed along with the opening remarks given by Exec. Dir. of Ramon Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. Dr. Jocelyn Gerra. Reputable poet, a prolific contemporary Cebuano language scholar and a promoter of the language Dr. Erlinda K. Alburo graced the show with Balak: Forging Peoples poem that sh wrote for this year’s celebration. The opening ceremony was held at Casa Gorordo Museum ground and was hosted by Ron Heri Tan.

Background: Gabii Sa Kabilin began in the backyard of Casa Gorordo Museum. Starting with three museums in 2007, it has now reached to 41 participating and featured sites in four key cities – Cebu, Mandaue, Lapu-Lapu and Talisay. Gabii Sa Kabilin has now bagged awards for the promotion of local and cultural heritage. It was a random Monday craving, so I instantaneously decided to try out Trattoria da Gianni at Crossroads, Banilad. The first glimpse of their interior brings nostalgic sense of home. Its bright, comfortable scheme and the well-crafted wooden tables and chairs are well put-together that gives a posh and stylish Italian ambiance. I’ve been to several Italian restaurants in Cebu (as it is my second favorite after Japanese fūdo) and Trattoria da Gianni didn’t seem to disappoint me.

A trattoria is an Italian-style eating establishment, less upscale than a ristorante, but more formal than an osteria. It’s pretty casual where food is always fabulous. Read More »
